They Leave
A dubious foray into poetry on the eve of rather impending doom in the form of standardized examination.
He did his job, and now they go
Away away to better things:
They start out strong, they laugh, they drink
Sucked into stories serendipitously told
They twirl their hair, and look somewhere and focus the sun in on his hair
We fasten on this moment here:
The sun, the life, we will prevail
Over the barricades will soar
Of love and grief, of lost content, of lonely hours that exist
Of thoughts and feelings deep inside,
Her melancholy smile hidden in hid eyes so far obscured, so deep within, he is content this moment here.
But moments pass, the tea grows cold, the sun does set
They must go soon, to real men, to better things to far off lands and pastures green
He knows now- and lets them go
Adieu my friends, adieu the life, adieu the moments and sun
Until I’m needed yet again I shall stay here , oh yes nowhere, preparing to be left again.
